QC 4500 - 4534 CFM Whole House Fan
Details
The Quietcool QC-4500 (U.S. Patent #7497774) is called the Quiet Giant. It, like it's smaller brother the QC-1500, is an innovative whole house fan that delivers superior performance with 4,500 cubic feet per minute of airflow while operating almost silently. It is mounted up in the attic and connected to an attractive ceiling grill with two patented acoustical insulated flexible ducts. This design eliminates all vibration, rattle, and noise so common to all other whole house fans.
It can be installed almost anywhere in the ceiling as long as there is an attic above or adjacent to. It fits between 16" on center framing, requires no carpentry work to install, and takes less than half the time to install as a conventional whole house fan. It comes with two separate motors and ducts, allowing for two-speed operation by running only one motor or both motors. Each motor has insulated, positive closing damper doors that prevent the intrusion of attic air back into the house when they are not in operation

Moves 4,534 CFM of Air and Generates Only 0.7 Sones, For An Amazingly Quiet and Efficient System. There is nothing else on the market like this!
The Quiet Giant is a powerful 4534 CFM, 2 speed whole house fan. This revolutionary new product is the perfect compliment to the existing line of QC-1500 whole house fans.
The Quiet Giant can be used to create a powerful, yet amazingly quiet flow of air in your home. Installed in combination with our existing QC-1500 system will give you unprecedented flexibility in designing the perfect whole house cooling solution to meet your specific needs.
The Quiet Giant consist of basically two QC-2250 units with larger higher speed motors and two 7 foot ducts connected to one ceiling box and one ceiling grille.
The ceiling box is 16" x 38" ceiling box (O.S. dim.) which allows it to be installed without an adapter kit in attics with 24" or 16" on-center framing. There are two motor housings that are approximatley 16" in diameter. The 6'long ang 16" in diameter flexible ducting is attached to the back of the motor housing.
The Quiet Giant is designed to be installed in a central hallway and should be used as part of a multi-fan configuration. By installing a Quiet Giant in the central hallway and installing the standard QC-1500 fans in your occupied bedrooms, you will generate the maximum air flow and desired cooling effect.
The Quiet Giant whole house fans are also perfect for the homeowner that wants to replace their loud, traditional whole house fan with a much quieter whole house fan system that you can run all night.

Just Installed QC-4500 this past weekend
I just installed my QC-4500 this past weekend. I was at first a bit skeptical of the reviews and specified performance of this fan system with regards to the noise levels - but I am very impressed!! Very quiet fan system for moving so much air! I have a 1600 SF ranch and it does a wonderful job. As far as installation goes, if you do it yourself, as I did, I would highly recommend a second person to assist with getting the fans into the attic and hanging them. It is difficult (but possible) to do by yourself. Also, keep in mind that the fans themselves will not pass through the grille opening you have to cut in the ceiling. The fans will have to be taken up into the attic through your regular attic access opening. My attic access is in my garage and the fan system was installed at the end of the hallway - and they are at opposite ends of the house in my case. I would recommend leaving the flex duct connected to the fans but disconnecting the flex duct from the sheetmetal plenum box. You can then tranport the individual fan/flex duct assemblies in the attic more easily and the flex duct fits back on to the top of the sheetmetal plenum box fairly easily as well. The sheetmetal plenum box can be taken up through you attic access opening as well, or you can turn it sideways and install it right from the opening you cut out of the ceiling. So far, we are very happy with our choice of this type of fan system over a "conventional" whole house fan.

I'm very satisfied with this purchase.
We have an older house with no duct work to install air conditioning. Rather than buy air conditioners for the windows + pay the extra cost to use it, We decided to try a whole house fan. Since it would be installed right outside the bedrooms, we wanted it to be quiet - I've read many reviews indicating how loud some of the fans are. Everyone's opinion of "loud" differs, but since I don't plan on replacing this fan unless it breaks, I'd figured I'd rather spend extra up front to make sure I don't regret my decision.
The Quiet Giant is definitely more expensive than most the others I looked at. However, it also appeared to be the quietest, easiest to install, and has the smallest ceiling opening (our ceiling joists are only 14" apart).
The unit came with a 30-day money-back guarantee, so rather than cut a hole in the ceiling just to try it out, we mounted it over the entry to the attic. I cut a sheet of cardboard to the size of the entry to the attic, then cut out the hole for ceiling mount. It then mounted to the cardboard exactly as it would have to the ceiling had I cut a hole in the ceiling.
When we turned it on, we were very happy. It's very quiet. I'd compare the sound to that of a regular furnace vent when the heater is turned on. You can hear the air blowing through the vent, but that's about it. A very very comfortable sound. There's not much difference in sound between one fan running and both fans running. Either way, you mostly just hear the sound of air blowing thru the ducts.
Then for the true test. How much air does it circulate? We opened 4 windows throughout the house and were amazed. One window had the drapes closed and the drapes were floating at an angle as though a steady wind was blowing. When we turned the fan off, the drapes immediately returned to their normal position against the window. While holding my hand near the other windows, I could feel a strong breeze as well. Even papers on the refrigerator were moving. It was like having a fan sitting in each of the windows blowing on medium speed inside the house. I went to open a window in the basement and as soon as I stood at the top of the stairs I could feel a breeze blowing right at me. It was already pulling air from the basement strong enough for me to feel at the top of the stairs.
I have a 4000 square foot home with a basement, main floor, and the bedrooms upstairs. I wasn't sure the 4500 CFM would be strong enough for my whole house, but between unused rooms and closets, I figured it should be ok. Well, it's more than OK. It's pulling air way better than I had expected.
VERY GOOD VALUE
I installed my new QC4500 in my attic this weekend. It took me about 1.5 hours to install the fan ! It took about 2 hours to install the wall switch and timer. The remote control works very well. I liked not having to pay for sales tax too. The fan is very quiet and very powerful. Much more quiet than I thought it would be.

AWESOME FANS !
I have a 3000 square foot home in Belleville Illinois.
Wasn't sure if this fan would do the trick.
Happy to say that this fan is more than I expected! It is quiet and it is powerful.
Thanks for calculating the house size and existing vents for me. You guys are awesome.

I'm in heaven!
After researching whole house fans to death on the internet for over a year, we finally decided on the QC 4500. Suburban Fan was GREAT! The gentleman on the phone was so helpful and took the time to answer all of my questions.
We have a 2,200sf home (3,000sf with the finished basement). We have no cross breeze in this house and we have suffered with that since moving in 9 years ago. If we came home from work in the evening and the house was 80 degrees, we could have opened all of our windows and if the temperature dropped to 50 outside at night, the next morning our house might have dropped to 78 degrees. It was as if the windows were closed all night, but they weren't.
The QC4500 was installed on Monday and we are in heaven! We had an almost 80 degree day here yesterday and I am DELIGHTED to say that with the QC4500 running the house quickly cooled down to the 60's (perfect sleeping temperature). We just turned it off with the remote when we were cool enough and slept like lambs. My only regret is that I didn't install one 9 years ago!
The fan is really quiet and not at all clunky and unattractive like the traditional louvered fans.
I can't say enough good things about the QC4500 or Suburban Fan. They ROCK!!!
Very Good Product
We installed this fan last week and it works better than we could have ever expected.
Thank you Robert for your expertise and direction- If we purchased the fan that we originally wanted to buy we would have spent more money only to get less.
Again Many Thanks!
I purchased my QC4500 here
I purchased my QC4500 here too! Great deal! I like not having to have paid for shipping and I liked getting the remote for free! I have a 2500 square foot house and it works great ! I too will refer your company!
Great Fan
I just got my fan last week ! I was not sure if I could install this fan myself but I did and it turned out really good ! The instructions were pretty well written. Thanks to Henry and Robert for all of your great advice and support through out the purchase and installation process. The fan moves the air just like you said it would and the remote control timer and software is really cool too !
I will refer your company to others!
